Some uses: - As a top dressing: spread a 1/2 inch layer of castings around plants, mulch, and water. - To grow seeds: mix 3 parts of age compost or coir fiber to 1 part castings*. - As a potting mix: mix 2 parts of age compost, 1 part castings, 1/2 part vermiculite. - You can also apply castings around the base of fruit trees to help maintain moisture levels. Minerals will leach directly into the soil.
* Mix with your soil at a 20 to 30% ratio (a study led by Dr. Edwards of Ohio State University showed that adding over 40% did not produce significantly better results on plants).
